NBA Metaphors and Jesus

I have a friend that lives in North Carolina and naturally if you know me very well, a lot of our friendship is built on a love of sports. We are both huge Alabama basketball fans and because Alabama has had a couple of guys make the NBA lately, I’ve started to watch more NBA. The NBA has this channel/service called NBA League pass, if you pay $250, then you can watch every single game of the NBA season whenever you want to, even the small market teams. But because that’s a lot of money for something that in my house only I will appreciate, I feel guilty about spending it. So, I think I'm going try to get my pal to split the bill with me. $125 isn’t that bad. But here’s the problem, I already know that he knows that I want the service way more than he does. So he's probably going to say, “Why don’t you just buy it and give me the login?”  He's going to want the $250 benefit without giving me anything in return. So, what will I say to that? "NO WAY!" That doesn’t make any sense.

BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU! He wants you to be saved from your sins even more than you want it, so He took on the cross--the punishment for your sins. He paid the WHOLE price for the service and has given you the login. There’s no price to be paid by you! (In fact, any payment method we would have tried to use to justify ourselves in the eyes of God wouldn't have worked anyway.) What Jesus has already done is sufficient.
